Martin Thompson: the ONLY local candidate in the Church Street by-election

Let us give you three positive reasons to vote for Martin Thompson in the Church Street by-election on Thursday 24th July:

  • Martin is the ONLY candidate who lives in the area. He has lived locally for almost 20 years.

  • Martin has a track record of fighting for local people. He campaigns to protect local shops and Church Street Market from the threat of ever more supermarkets. He has also campaigned against the closure of Lisson Grove post office.

  • Martin will be a more independent voice on the council, speaking up for and championing the Church Street area.

The Conservatives? Their candidate lives five miles from Church Street, near Brent Cross Shopping Centre. He does not even live in Westminster.

The Tories have been in power in Westminster ever since the council was set up in the Sixties. That's over 40 years in charge, and what does Church Street have to show for it? Within the last few days, the area was officially named amongst the most deprived in the whole of England.

The Tories have failed Church Street for over 40 years. Their candidate lives five miles away, outside Westminster. Don't reward them with your vote. They don't deserve it.

And Labour? Their candidate lives two miles from Church Street, near Soho.

Labour have let down our area. Lisson Grove post office has now closed down permanently thanks to Labour's nationwide post office closure programme. Taxes and prices are going up just as the economy starts to hit the rocks. What bright ideas are Labour councillors talking about? The latest is a call from their leader for a new supermarket on Church Street! They have run out of ideas and run out of steam.

No wonder local people are giving up on Labour.
